Our Mission Statement

It is our mission to lead people into a life-change growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Also to be a Spirit-Led congregation committed to operating in a spirit of excellence and grace as we glorify God through continually engaging in worship, prayer, the study of God's Word, evangelism, discipleship, and outreach.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a church that "Equips People For Service To God, People, And Community."

Our Approach:

Realizing that we as individuals are spirit, soul, and body, Mt Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church will approach ministry with the goal of ministering to and edifying the complete person.

Our Core Values:

Our Core Values determine the fingerprint of our church. It is our basic core values that make up our DNA.

Our Core Values

A Word Church

Embracing the Bible as true and the chief catalyst for encouraging life change. Complete devotion to Christ through Discipleship

A Worshipping Church

Sunday’s (11 AM ) is our time to collectively join hands and hearts in adoration & reverence (prayer, reading scripture, singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, giving of our financial resources, a proclamation of the word of God) to God.

A Working Church

Gathering with a church encourages believers to love others and do good deeds. A church is the main venue for using your spiritual gifts, and it is your involvement that is evidence of your transformation.

A Witnessing Church

Being committed to lost people. By producing and sharing in loving relationships within the church. Committed to living lives, that model salvation, and sanctification.

Ministries or Team

Mt Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at this church.

Our History

Mount Lula Baptist and St. John Baptist Churches organized the New Hope Baptist church on October 19, 1920 and the founding pastor was Reverend Mac Stevens......

Pastor Mark Mitchell

Pastor Mark Mitchell is the youngest son of David and Ann Mitchell. At a young age I began serving in the church. At the age of 16 I was appointed superintendent of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, by our Pastor Dr. W. W. Cotton.  I have served as the Trustee and Treasurer.  On the first Sunday in February 2004, I was ordained as a Deacon of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. I strongly believed that my responsibility as a deacon was to support my pastor in every way that God had directed my Pastor to lead. In July of 2010 I accepted my call to preach. I preached my initial sermon on August 15, 2010. I was ordained on December 11, 2011, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Dr. W. W. Cotton, I served as the Youth Pastor.  In December of 2021 I became the interim pastor of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church before becoming the pastor in August of 2022.

In 2003 he married his college sweetheart, Ebony.  She works alongside her husband in ministry and adds encouragement and support. They have four children. They have a heart for seeing people walking in the purpose that God has for them.

What We Believe

Bible
Every Word of all 66 books of the Bible is inspired and preserved by God ( 2 Tim 3:16).

 God
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit  are One, which form the Godhead ( John 5:7)

 Satan
We believe Satan is a person. He is a tempter and the cause of the fall of man (Gen 3:4, Job 1:6-12). For him was prepared hell and all those who do not accept Jesus as their Savior will spend eternity in hell (I Cor. 7:5; Rev, 20:10).

Fall of Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and therefore, became lost. Only if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9).

 Atonement for Sin
Jesus laid down his life and shed his blood to pay for our sins ( 1 John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15: 1-6).

 Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift freely given by God. It cannot be acquired by works or how good you have been. It is gained by repentance of sin and acceptance of Jesus as your Savior. All who do are sealed for eternity (John 10:28; Acts 16:30-33; Romans 10:9,10; Eph. 1:7,13,14; 2:8,9).

Church
We believe that the church is the community of saved believers. That every believer in Jesus needs to be connected to a local church where they can worship, fellowship, learn grow and serve (Hebrew 10:25; I John 1:7).
